Thirteen prelim games. One overtime trip back to the bracket page. A whole lot of seeds doing seedy things.
Softball prelims went mostly chalk this round, with two of the wilder endings coming out of Class D North. Fort Fairfield outlasted Washburn / Easton / Central Aroostook 16 to 15 in the kind of game that makes scorekeepers question their life choices, and Schenck shut out Ashland 10 to 0 the same night. Class C North saw the first real upset: ninth seed Winslow ran past Sumner Memorial 21 to 13, then on a separate diamond, seventh seed Houlton / Greater Houlton edged tenth seed Dexter 5 to 3.
Our gremlins were up before sunrise grabbing this stuff. They missed one game on the first run (sorry, Houlton, sorry, Dexter). They went back, found it on the bracket page, brought it home before breakfast. That is the deal. Overtime is free. The full Bracketology is updated, every prelim card now carries its real score, and GameIQ has already rerun the QF matchups with the new pairings.

Quarterfinals: who GameIQ likes
GameIQ has now reshuffled every QF card. A handful of the juiciest reads:
Class A North: #1 Oxford Hills over #8 Bangor at 78.3%. #2 Lewiston over #7 Mount Blue at 80.7%. The middle pair is the only one without a clear edge: #4 Edward Little over #5 Hampden Academy at 52.8%, which is GameIQ basically shrugging and saying "go to the game".
Class A South: #1 Cheverus over #8 Biddeford at 87.3%, the highest top seed confidence of any softball region. #5 Windham vs #4 Gorham reads 60.4% Gorham, which is the bracket's tightest A South matchup.
Class B North: #1 Hermon over #9 Cony at 82.7%. #3 Belfast over #6 Ellsworth at 82.8% (highest in the class). Old Town and Lawrence are the closest pair at 64.3 / 35.7.
Class B South: #1 Medomak Valley over #8 Greely at 70.7%, the lowest #1 seed confidence in softball, Greely just put up 14 on Yarmouth so the gremlins have been respectful.
Class C North: #1 Bucksport over #9 Winslow at 85.2%. The Winslow gremlin would like a word about that one. #2 Mattanawcook over #7 Houlton / Greater Houlton at 77.9%, Houlton just survived a prelim and the schedule does not get nicer.
Class D North: #6 Machias vs #14 Woodland reads 56.3% Machias, which is GameIQ being honest about a 14 seed with a 14 point game on its resume.
How the GameIQ season actually went
Now that the regular season is in the book, the final softball accuracy number is 87.4%. That is 822 right out of 941 played games, with an average margin error under ten runs. Take a moment with that, almost nine out of every ten games called correctly, straight up, with no point spread cushion. Heal Points got the seeding right. PIR got the resumes right. The whole stack held.
Free through September 3, 2026. The whole site is open to everyone right now. All-Access goes paid in the fall. Until then, every page, every bracket card, every PIR readout is yours. Bring a friend.
QF games begin Thursday June 11 at higher seeds. The Bracketology will refresh again as soon our gremlins do not sleep during playoffs.
