Mount Desert Island won the Girls Class B title at the Northern Maine Class B Regional Championship on October 24, scoring 40 points. Caribou's Emma Graves took the individual race in 18:44.40, finishing 10.5 seconds clear of second place.
Presque Isle was runner up at 64 points. Caribou placed third with 85, John Bapst fourth with 98 and Waterville fifth with 113.
Mount Desert Island's scoring five averaged 20:13.3 on the course. That kind of balance from one through five is how a team gets to 40.
Graves ran the fastest winning time of the Girls day. Her margin of 10.5 seconds gave her room to spare at the finish.
The course was kind to plenty of others too. Fifty three Girls runners set season personal records at the meet, which makes for a lot of cheerful bus rides home in late October.
