Maine Track Last Week: Doubles, A Shot Put Over Fifty Two Feet, And A Pole Vault That Cleared Fifteen

If you wanted a quiet first week of May at a Maine track meet, you got the wrong calendar. May 5 and May 7 combined produced 2,680 individual results across the outdoor 2026 season. The marks worth keeping are below.

Two athletes did the very rare thing of winning two events on the same day.

Sophia Poulin, Leavitt: Long Jump and High Jump

Sophia Poulin took the top girls long jump in the state for the day with a leap of 18 feet 7 inches, then went over and topped the high jump at 5 feet 2.5 inches. Both at the same meet on May 7. The girls jumps in Maine have multiple legitimate state meet contenders this spring, and Poulin landed in two of them in one afternoon.

Thomas LeBlanc, Edward Little: Pole Vault and 110 Hurdles

Thomas LeBlanc cleared 15 feet flat in the pole vault and ran 15.84 in the 110 meter hurdles on May 7, leading the boys window in both events. A 15 foot vault is the kind of mark that turns into a state meet conversation in June.

Distance Doubles

Two distance kids put together back to back races. Isaac Pelletier of Sanford ran 2:03.37 in the 800 meters and 4:43.40 in the 1600 meters on May 7. Both times led the boys distance for the window.

On the girls side, Georgia Moon of Falmouth posted 2:23.36 in the 800 and 5:09.91 in the 1600 at her May 5 meet. Same pattern, different gender, different end of the state.

Wyatt Cyr Hit Fifty Two Feet

Bonny Eagle's Wyatt Cyr threw the shot put 52 feet flat on May 7. Fifty two is the kind of number you start telling people about. Teammate Savannah Austin won the girls shot put at the same meet at 35 feet 4 inches. Bonny Eagle quietly took both shot put titles for the window.

Maine Central Institute Goes Twice

Maine Central Institute had two girls top events the same day. Issabella Spell jumped 34 feet 8.25 inches in the triple jump. Charlotte Gross cleared 8 feet 1 inch in the pole vault. Both wins, May 7. Class C, leading their respective events for the window.

Other Marks Worth Knowing

  • Mason Henderson of Leavitt ran 11.16 in the 100 meters on May 7, top boys 100 of the window.

  • Larson Stone of Lewiston cleared 6 feet flat in the high jump on May 7.

  • Nsungui Mankatu of Lewiston jumped 45 feet 6.5 inches in the triple jump on May 7.

  • Jaiden Homa of Kennebunk hit 21 feet flat in the long jump on May 7.

  • Jack Landry of Westbrook threw the discus 147 feet 2 inches on May 5.

  • Colby Fernald of Gorham threw the javelin 146 feet 5 inches on May 5.

  • Liz Green of Brunswick threw the discus 118 feet on May 7, top girls of the window.

Indoor and Outdoor Stay Separate

Quick reminder. Indoor times do not get mixed with outdoor times in the rankings. Different season, different track surface, different starting blocks. The outdoor 100, 200, and field events all start fresh in April. Your athlete's indoor PR is still on their athlete page in the indoor section.

What Comes Next

There are still a lot of meets ahead. May has multiple Saturday invitationals, league championship weekends in late May, and then the state qualifiers and state meet in June.

We started Analytics207 because Maine high school sports deserve coverage that pays attention. The site has come a long way in a short time, and outdoor track is the loudest example of why that matters. We hope the athletes, the coaches, and the families showing up to these meets see what we are trying to do here. The job is to celebrate Maine athletes, every result, every meet, every PR. We are very far from finished.
