Four athletes won two events apiece at the Class A outdoor track and field state championship at Bangor High School on Saturday, June 6, and 18 schools went home with at least one gold medal.
The doubles
Drew Gervais of Bonny Eagle won the boys 100 in 11.07 and came back to take the 200 in 21.84. Hampden Academy's Addison Elliott won the girls 800 in 2:17.10 and the 1600 in 4:54.75. Marshwood's Anna Jennings won the girls 400 in 58.03 and the long jump at 18 feet 7 inches. Scarborough's Isabella Harmon took the girls 100 hurdles in 15.49 and the high jump at 5 feet 2.
Boys
The distance races went three ways. Anthony Nielsen of South Portland won the 800 in 1:58.21, Atticus Merriam of Scarborough the 1600 in 4:16.58 and Ellis Wood of Deering the 3200 in 9:22.40. Ian Britt of Mount Ararat won the 1600 race walk in 6:24.55.
Ethan Patterson of Brunswick won the 400 in 49.43. South Portland's Devin Berry took the 110 hurdles in 15.26 and Deering's Abdulkadir Munye the 300 hurdles in 39.34.
Larson Stone of Lewiston cleared 6 feet 4 to win the high jump. Bossay Ditanduka of South Portland won the long jump at 22 feet 4, Nsungui Mankatu of Lewiston the triple jump at 45 feet 9 and Thomas Leblanc of Edward Little the pole vault at 15 feet. In the throws, Emmett Milliken of Camden Hills won the shot put at 54 feet 4, Jake Bassi of Bangor the discus at 173 feet 9 and Cordell Jones of Portland the javelin at 162 feet.
Brunswick won the 4x100 in 43.09, Gorham the 4x400 in 3:25.85 and Portland the 4x800 in 8:11.95.
Girls
Elliette Musica of Brunswick won the 100 in 12.79 and Macey Weisberg of Cheverus/Waynflete the 200 in 26.02. Taylor Scales of Bangor won the 300 hurdles in 45.85.
Falmouth had the best afternoon of anyone in the distance events and the relays. Georgia Moon won the 3200 in 10:42.54, Cassidy Bishop won the 1600 race walk in 8:42.12, and Falmouth won both the 4x400, in 4:10.36, and the 4x800, in 9:54.41. Hampden Academy won the 4x100 in 49.89.
Sydney Leveille of Marshwood won the triple jump at 37 feet 4 and Alexis Hamel of Hampden Academy the pole vault at 11 feet. Annabelle Harris of Windham won the shot put at 35 feet 10, Liz Green of Brunswick the discus at 118 feet 3 and Siena Carbone of Massabesic the javelin at 101 feet 3.
By the numbers
Thirty-eight gold medals were handed out, 32 in individual events and six in relays. Bonny Eagle, Brunswick, Marshwood, Hampden Academy, South Portland, Scarborough, Cheverus/Waynflete, Falmouth, Deering, Mount Ararat, Bangor, Camden Hills, Lewiston, Edward Little, Portland, Windham, Gorham and Massabesic all had at least one champion. Class B ran the same day at Freeport and Class C at Winslow.
