Caribou Takes Northern Maine Class B Boys Title With 61 Points
Caribou won the boys team title at the Northern Maine Class B Regional Championship on October 24, scoring 61 points behind a race win from Pierce Gorneault.
Gorneault ran 16:01.03, the fastest winning time of the boys day, and finished 52.7 seconds clear of second place. Caribou's scoring five averaged 17:29.5 on the course.
The chase behind Caribou was as close as a scoresheet allows. John Bapst and Presque Isle both totaled 83 points, with John Bapst placed second and Presque Isle third. Mount Desert Island was fourth with 148 and Erskine fifth with 169.
The day was kind to plenty of runners beyond the top of the standings. Eighty boys set season personal records at the meet, which makes for a lot of cheerful bus rides home across northern Maine.
