Last Friday (May 15th), the Houlton Shiretowner's played the Calais Blue Devils at home. They are called the shire fire, and they sure came ready. The bats were hot for Houlton, averaging 3 runs per inning. However, it wasn't just the batting that proved to be lethal to the Calais team; Houlton's baserunning was exceptional, every runner on base stole, and this should be no surprise as the Shires softball team is made up of exceptional athletes that play Soccer and run cross country in the fall. This improves the Shire's record to 6-1, and they travel to Presque Isle on the 18th to play the Wild Cats.
